6 Epic Robby the Robot Tattoos

Robert Kinoshita, the art director and production designer who created the iconic robot in the 1956 film Forbidden Planet, passed away last month. He made it to 100 years old and lived in a Japanese internment camp during World War II, but is far more likely to forever be remembered for his influence on science-fiction. Robby the Robot, his creation, was the first robot film character that was more than a tin prop; he had a distinct personality.

As we often do when the world loses a high-profile artist or designer, we began thinking about how Kinoshita contributed to the tattoo culture. You might be surprised to learn that there are more than a handful of people walking around with his signature Robby the Robot character. In an homage to Kinoshita and with a nod to you robot fanatics, we present you with a collection of Robby the Robot tattoos.
